High School: Sydney "Syd" Martin attended North Central High School in Morrow, LA. She played for Head Coach Vanessa Taylor, where she was a three year captain of her Hurricanes team. During her senior season, the Hurricanes went 32-3 and Sydney averaged 18 points and 5 Rebounds per game. She was part of 3 State Semifinal teams and 1 state championship team. Sydney was named to the All-Acadiana Second team twice and was All-State Honorable Mention. She was a top 10 honor graduate and also ran track.

Hometown: Hometown is Morrow, Louisiana. She is the daughter of Rokeitha Martin and Terran Fontenot. She has three bothers. Her favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant and Maya Moore. Her greatest athletic experience was winning the state championship her senior year.
