Lady Bears pick up big conference victory over Lady Dolphins

This afternoon, the Baton Rouge Lady Bears faced off against the Delgado Lady Dolphins in a LCCAC matchup at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. The Lady Bears used two strong quarters to secure a 70-61 victory over the Lady Dolphins.
The game was competitive in the early minutes of the first quarter, with the Lady Bears holding a slim 6-5 lead at the seven-minute mark. They then went on a 12-4 run to extend their lead to nine points, making it 18-9 with three minutes left in the quarter. Key contributions from the bench came from Jacey Coleman, Koi Ursin, and Chanci Moland. The Lady Bears finished the quarter with a nine-point advantage, leading 24-15.
In the second quarter, the Lady Dolphins found success offensively while the Lady Bears struggled. The Dolphins outscored the Bears 22-12 in this quarter, taking a one-point lead into halftime, 37-36.
The third quarter began with both teams unable to establish a clear advantage. At the six-minute mark, the Lady Bears held a narrow 44-41 lead. They became more aggressive defensively, implementing a full-court press that disrupted the Lady Dolphins. The Bears closed out the quarter with a 14-7 run, taking a ten-point lead into the final period, 58-48.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears' bench players excelled, with Koi Ursin and Jacey Coleman leading the offensive charge. Although the Lady Dolphins outscored the Bears 13-12 in this quarter, the Lady Bears clinched the 70-61 victory.
Shelcie LeBlanc led the Lady Bears with 15 points, along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Jacey Coleman added 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Chanci Moland contributed 10 points. For the Lady Dolphins, Miracle Irving recorded a game-high 18 points, with Tori Walker also scoring in double figures.
With this win, the Lady Bears improved to 12-12, 4-2 in the conference, while the Lady Dolphins fell to 6-16, 1-4 on the season. Baton Rouge now leads the all-time series with 40 wins to 11 losses against Delgado.
