Lady Bears rally late to defeat the Delgado Lady Dolphins

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears traveled to New Orleans to face the Delgado Community College Lady Dolphins in the Michael Williamson Center. This was another LCCAC game for the Lady Bears. The Lady Bears rallied in the fourth quarter to secure a comeback victory, winning 77 to 71 against the Lady Dolphins.
The Lady Bears got on the board first with a basket from Shelcie LeBlanc. The Lady Dolphins then hit a three-pointer to take the lead. During the first three minutes of the game, the score was back and forth. The Lady Dolphins surged ahead, building an 11-5 lead over the Lady Bears with six minutes remaining. However, the Lady Bears found their offensive spark in Jacey Coleman and Trinity Thomas, narrowing the gap to 13-11. The Lady Dolphins answered with another three-pointer to extend their lead to 18-13. The Lady Bears battled back, reclaiming the lead in the final minute of the quarter when Jacey Coleman grabbed her own rebound and scored, making it 19-18. The quarter ended with the score tied at 21.
To open the second quarter, the Lady Dolphins hit another three to regain the lead. The Lady Bears managed to tie the game at 24 when Emani Young completed an "and-one" play. However, the Lady Bears struggled offensively, and the Lady Dolphins outscored them 16 to 13 in the second quarter, taking a 37-34 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bears showed more aggression on both ends of the floor. This quarter featured three ties and four lead changes. Both teams scored 16 points, allowing the Lady Dolphins to maintain a slim three-point lead, 53-50.
The fourth quarter was intensely competitive, with neither team able to build a lead larger than three points in the first five minutes. The Lady Dolphins managed to pull ahead, establishing a six-point lead at 69-63 with three minutes left, primarily through free throws, converting 5 of 6 attempts. The Lady Bears fought back, closing the gap with a bucket from Jacey Coleman to make it 70-67. Coleman scored again, pulling the Lady Bears within one point at 70-69 with 1:48 remaining. Emani Young then hit a jumper, giving the Lady Bears a one-point lead at 71-70 with 1:19 left. In the final minute, the Lady Bears outscored the Lady Dolphins 6-1 to secure the win, finishing 77-71.
Jacey Coleman led the Lady Bears with 22 points, while three players scored in double figures: Coleman, Shelcie LeBlanc, and Emani Young. The Lady Dolphins were led in scoring by Miracle Irving, who totaled 19 points. Delgado also had three players in double figures: Irving, Thomas, and Ebbs.
With this victory, the Lady Bears improved to 10-11 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Lady Dolphins fell to 5-14 and 0-2 in the season. The Lady Bears maintain a commanding lead in the all-time series against Delgado, with 39 wins and 11 losses.
