Lady Bears defeat Region 23 Copiah Lincoln Lady Wolves in Bears Den!

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears faced off against the Copiah Lincoln Lady Wolves in a Region 23 contest this evening at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center on the BRCC MidCity campus. The Lady Bears secured a victory with a strong second half, defeating the Lady Wolves 61 to 51.
The Lady Bears started the game quickly, taking an early 6-2 lead in the first three minutes. The Lady Wolves responded and tied the game at 8 and again at 10. However, led by aggressive inside play from Jacey Coleman, the Lady Bears finished the first quarter with a 17-14 advantage.
In the second quarter, the Lady Bears extended their lead to ten points, 26-16, with four minutes remaining before halftime. The Lady Wolves rallied with an 8-2 run to close the half, trimming the Lady Bears' lead to four points at halftime, with Baton Rouge ahead 28-24.
The third quarter saw a back-and-forth battle, but the Lady Bears outscored the Lady Wolves 16-14, maintaining their lead. At the end of the quarter, Baton Rouge held a 44-38 advantage.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears scored the first five points, extending their lead to 11 at 49-38. They ultimately outscored Copiah Lincoln 17 to 13 in the quarter, securing the 61-51 victory in this Region 23 matchup.
Throughout the game, the Lady Bears were aggressive on the boards, and their changing defensive strategies disrupted the Lady Wolves' rhythm on offense. Standout performances came from Jacey Coleman, Cambrieion Link, and Koi Ursin off the bench.
Cambrieion Link led the Lady Bears with 16 points, while the team had four players scoring in double figures: Link, Jacey Coleman, Koi Ursin, and Emani Young. The Lady Wolves were led by Kamaiyah Pruitt with 13 points and Zion Nelson with 12.
With this victory, the Lady Bears improved to 6-8, while the Lady Wolves dropped to 8-3 for the season. Copiah Lincoln still leads the all-time series with 17 wins to 6 losses against Baton Rouge.

- Jacey Coleman: another double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds
- Koi Ursin: 15 points off the bench, hitting 3 of 4 shots from behind the arc

The Lady Bears will travel to Monroeville, Alabama, on Saturday, January 10, to take on the Coastal Alabama North Coyotes. Tip-off is set for 2 PM at the Cooper Center.
