The Lady Bears led wire to wire to secure the victory over the Holmes Lady Bulldogs!

The Lady Bears kicked off a three-game homestand this evening at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center against the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs, a Region 23 opponent. Coming off a victory against Copiah Lincoln on Monday night, the Lady Bears aimed to build momentum. They led from start to finish, winning decisively with a final score of 63 to 40.
In the first quarter, the Lady Bears had a strong start, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 14-5 with two minutes remaining. For the first time this season, they effectively executed their offensive strategy while also tightening their defense, forcing the Lady Bulldogs into challenging shots and limiting their possessions. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears held an eight-point lead, 16-8.
The second quarter saw the Lady Bulldogs finding some success offensively, closing the gap to seven points at 27-20 with one minute left. Though the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Bears 16-14 in this quarter, the Lady Bears maintained a six-point lead at halftime, 30-24.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bears intensified their defensive pressure, allowing the Lady Bulldogs to score only two points—tying the record for the fewest points allowed in a quarter. The Lady Bears scored 13 points in this quarter, with Shelcie LeBlanc contributing eight of those points. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Bears led 43-26.
The Lady Bulldogs showed some offensive improvement in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Bears' reserves came in and kept pace with the starters, led by Cambrieion Link, Koi Ursin, and Jacey Coleman. The Lady Bears continued their strong defensive performance along with effective offensive execution. They defeated Holmes by a final score of 63 to 40, securing their second consecutive victory.
Shelcie LeBlanc topped the Lady Bears' scoring with a game-high 21 points, while Samora Moody led the Lady Bulldogs with 9 points. LeBlanc and Coleman were the two Lady Bears to score in double figures.
With this win, the Lady Bears improved to 2-4, while the Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-2 on the young season. It's worth noting that Holmes still leads the all-time series with 13 wins to Baton Rouge's 10.
