Monday November 20, 2023: Women's Basketball
Monroeville, AL
The Baton Rouge Lady Bears traveled to Monroeville, Alabama this evening to take on the Coastal Alabama North Coyotes. This was the fourth meeting between the two ball clubs. Coastal Alabama North Coyotes would come out on top, as they would, defeat the Baton Rouge Lady Bears 53 to 46.
The Lady Bears struggled in the first quarter, scoring only five points. The Coyotes would take a 12 to 5 lead after one quarter. The Lady Bears settled down, in the second quarter, and found a bit of life on the offensive side of the ball. Both teams would score 14 points in the second quarter. Coastal Alabama North would take a 26 to 19 lead into the half.
Unlike the previous three ball games, the Lady Bears were able to handle the halftime adjustments and come out with a bit of a spark, in the third quarter. The Lady Bears would outscore the Coyotes 16 to 11 in the third quarter, but they still trailed 37 to 35. With key starters in foul trouble for the Lady Bears, they struggled to produce on the offensive end and were outscored 16 to 11 in the fourth quarter, thus falling this evening 53 to 46 to the Coastal Alabama North Coyotes.
Olivia Davis led the Lady Bears in scoring with 11 points, while the Coyotes were led by T. Murph with 15 points. The Coyotes had 3 student athletes score in double figures.
With the loss Baton Rouge Lady Bears falls to 0-6, while Coastal Alabama North Coyotes improve to 5-4 on the season. The overall series is now tied at 2-2.

The Lady Bears will take some time off for the Thanksgiving holiday. They will return to action on Tuesday November 28, 2023, at home versus the Copiah Lincoln Lady Wolves at 6 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
