Second Half dooms Lady Bears

It was a tale of two halves for the Lady Bears tonight versus the Bishop State Wildcats in the Bears Den. Bishop State would take advantage of a low scoring third quarter by the Lady Bears to take the 65 to 60 victory.
The first quarter could be classified as the battle of the runs between the Lady Bears and the Wildcats. After the game was tied at four with 7:46 left in the first quarter, the Lady Bears would go on an eight-point run to take a 12 to 4 lead. Bishop would then go on a 6-0 run to close the gap to 12 to 10 with 4:31 left. The Lady Bears would close out the quarter on a 6 to 2 run to take an 18 to 12 lead after one.
The second quarter was raining threes. Both teams combined to make 6 three pointers. Bishop State would out score the Lady Bears 19 to 13 to pull even at the half. At the half the game was tied at 31 apiece.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats turned up the defensive pressure and won the battle of the boards. The Wildcats defensive pressure forced the Lady Bears into some turnover which turned into transition buckets for the Wildcats. Bishop State outscored Baton Rouge 18 to 8, in the quarter, to take a ten-point lead into the fourth;49-39.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears opened in a full court press putting the pressure on the Wildcats. The Lady Bears would pull within three points;52-49 with 5:32 left in the quarter. The Lady Bears would outscore the Wildcats 21 to 16 in the quarter, but it was not enough as they would fall 65 to 60 tonight to the Bishop State Wildcats.
Bishop State was led in scoring by Tenequa Rhodes with 20 points. Bishop State had three student athletes in double figures. Alanna Donaldson led Baton Rouge Lady Bears in scoring with a game high 23 points. The Lady Bears had three student athletes in double figures.
With the victory Bishop State improve to 2-1, while Baton Rouge falls to 0-2 on the season.

Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 23 points with 5 rebounds, 4 assist and 5 steals
Angel Bradford scored 19 points with 4 rebounds and 4 steals
Tronayia Issac added 11 points with 4 rebounds
The Lady Bears will be back in action this Saturday November 13 as they travel to Utica, Mississippi to take on region 23 opponent Hinds Community College at 2 pm.
