Bio
Danieca Coffey joins the Lady Bears’ coaching staff as an assistant softball coach following an accomplished playing career at LSU and her rookie professional season in the AUSL. A proven competitor and leader, Coffey brings elite offensive production, defensive consistency, and a deep understanding of the game developed through years of success at the highest levels of collegiate and professional softball.
Coffey concluded her decorated LSU career as one of the program’s most consistent and impactful players from 2021–2025. A three-time NFCA All-Region selection—including First Team honors in 2023 and 2025—she also earned All-SEC Second Team recognition twice (2022, 2025) and was a multi-time SEC Player of the Week. During her standout redshirt senior season in 2025, Coffey led the Tigers with a .388 batting average and a .509 on-base percentage while tallying 69 hits, 55 runs, and 47 walks. Her production placed her among LSU’s single-season leaders in multiple categories, including top-five marks in on-base percentage and walks. She also recorded a career-high 38 RBIs and posted an impressive 21 multi-hit games.
Over the course of her collegiate career, Coffey appeared in 231 games and finished ranked among LSU’s all-time leaders in several categories, including No. 2 in career on-base percentage (.457), No. 5 in batting average (.366), and No. 5 in walks (121). She also recorded 255 career hits, 170 runs scored, 105 RBIs, 41 stolen bases, and 75 multi-hit games. Her consistency at the plate and defensive reliability made her a cornerstone of LSU’s lineup throughout her career.
Coffey’s junior season in 2023 was another highlight, as she started all 59 games at third base and led the team with a .392 batting average and 74 hits. She also posted a .482 on-base percentage and stole 12 bases, earning NFCA All-Region First Team honors. As a sophomore in 2022, she was named NFCA All-Region Second Team and All-SEC Second Team after hitting .379 and leading the team with 72 hits. Even as a freshman, Coffey made an immediate impact, appearing in 41 games and showcasing her versatility across the infield.
In 2024, Coffey was off to a dominant start—batting .404 with a .500 on-base percentage—before a season-ending injury cut her season short. Despite the setback, she returned stronger than ever in 2025, demonstrating resilience and leadership that now carry into her coaching career.
Following her collegiate success, Coffey transitioned to the professional ranks in 2025 with the AUSL’s Volts. She started 21 of 24 games during the regular season, batting .283 with 17 hits and 11 RBIs while hitting her first professional home run in June. She elevated her performance in the AUSL All-Star Cup, finishing fifth on the leaderboard with a .344 batting average and 1,140 points, further solidifying her reputation as a high-level competitor.
A native of Richwood, Texas, Coffey was a standout at Angleton High School, where she helped lead her team to a state championship and earned All-State and Defensive Player of the Year honors. She was nationally recognized as a top recruit and also participated in theater, showcasing her well-rounded background.
As a coach, Coffey brings a player-first perspective, a strong work ethic, and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Her combination of elite playing experience, academic achievement as a multi-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection, and leadership qualities make her a valuable addition to the program.
