Bio
Abby Bolton is returning to take over the BRCC Lady Bears Softball program. She previously led the Lady Bears from 2018 to 2022 before leaving to become the Head Coach and Senior Women’s Leader at McPherson College in Kansas, a position she held for the past three seasons.
Before her first tenure at BRCC, Bolton served as the Head Coach at Seward County for one year after spending nine years as the assistant coach there. In her first season as Head Coach at Seward, she led the Lady Saints to a record of 38-21 and achieved a program-high of 22 wins in the Jayhawk Conference. The Lady Saints reached the Region VI championship game for the eighth time in eleven years before losing to Butler. By the end of her inaugural head coaching season, Bolton helped place ten Lady Saints on the All-Jayhawk team, tying a conference record.
Throughout Bolton's ten seasons with the Lady Saints, the team averaged just under 40 wins per season, and she oversaw the recognition of 46 players who were named to the Jayhawk West All-Conference Team.
Bolton graduated from Seward County Community College in 2003 and returned to her alma mater after serving one season as an assistant coach at Dodge City Community College. Andrea Gustafson, the head coach at Seward County, welcomed Bolton back to the program, where she had coached Bolton during her early years as a head coach in 2003.
During her time at Dodge City, Bolton contributed to the Conquistadors’ success, helping the team achieve 16 wins in 2008, which included a third-place finish in the NJCAA D-II West Sub-Region regular season standings. The Lady Conquistadors began the postseason with a victory over Labette but were eliminated after losses to Crowley and Coffeyville.
Before embarking on her collegiate coaching career in 2007-2008, Bolton worked as an admissions coordinator at Seward County Community College from 2006 to 2007.
Bolton still holds records in three all-time single-season categories at Seward County: 7th in doubles (20), 11th in hits (70), and 11th in runs scored (53). She earned an Associate of Science degree at Seward before continuing her education and athletics at Friends University.
Originally from Colorado Springs, Abby Bolton completed her Bachelor’s degree at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.
