Lady Bears swept by San Jacinto Ravens

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears traveled to Texas to take on the San Jacinto Ravens, making up a pair of games from earlier in the season. Unfortunately, the Ravens swept the Lady Bears with scores of 9-1 and 9-0, both ending in run rules.
Game One
The Lady Bears struggled to keep pace with the high-powered offense of the Ravens, dropping the first game 9-1 after five innings. The Ravens scored one run in the first inning, two runs in both the second and third innings, and then four runs in the fourth inning, taking a commanding 9-0 lead. The Lady Bears finally got on the board in the top of the fifth inning when Lauren Landrum drew a walk. Jardyn Wheeler followed with a single to centerfield, and Karley Chaney hit an infield single that scored Landrum, resulting in the Lady Bears' only run of the game.
Madelyn Nolen took the loss for the Lady Bears, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing 9 runs on 8 hits while walking 2. Emily Camacho and Kaitlyn Dwyer came in as relief for the Lady Bears. K. Hicks started for the Ravens and earned the victory, pitching 4 innings, allowing 0 runs on 1 hit, and striking out 1. V. Valdez pitched in relief for the Ravens. San Jacinto outhit Baton Rouge 8 to 3, with neither team committing an error

Game Two
In the second game, the San Jacinto Ravens hit three three-run homers to defeat the Lady Bears 9-0 in six innings. The Ravens struck first with a three-run homer by A. Garcia in the bottom of the third inning, taking a 3-0 lead. They followed up in the bottom of the fourth inning with another three-run homer by M. Perez, increasing their lead to 6-0.
The Lady Bears struggled to adjust at the plate, while the Ravens played outstanding defense, catching anything that came their way to keep Baton Rouge off the scoreboard. The Ravens sealed the victory with another three-run homer by M. Perez in the bottom of the sixth inning, resulting in a walk-off 9-0 win for the Ravens.
Abbey Borel took the loss for the Lady Bears, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 9 runs on 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 6. A. Diercks started for the Ravens and secured the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 1. San Jacinto outhit Baton Rouge 8 to 2, with the Ravens committing one error.

With this pair of losses, the Lady Bears fell to 13-25, while the Ravens improved to 20-22 on the season. San Jacinto now leads the all-time series with 11 wins to 1 loss over Baton Rouge.

The Lady Bears will travel to Goodman, Mississippi, on Tuesday, March 31, to take on the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs in a doubleheader.
