Tuesday, March 24, 2026: Softball
Shreveport, LA
The Lady Bears Softball team traveled north to Shreveport, Louisiana, this afternoon to square off against the UA Rich Mountain Bucks at Centenary Softball Complex. The Bucks sweep the Lady Bears with scores of 9-1 and 1-0.
Game One
The Lady Bears struggled at the plate to find timely hits, resulting in a 9-1 loss to the UA Rich Mountain Bucks in game one of today's doubleheader. Baton Rouge got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Miley Percle led off and reached base on an error. Karley Chaney moved Percle over with a sacrifice bunt. Lindsey Hudson then hit a single, putting the Lady Bears on the corners. Meaux Carroll grounded out, allowing Percle to score, marking the Lady Bears' first run of the game.
The Bucks took the lead with a two-run homer to left field by B. Tyler in the top of the third inning, bringing the score to 2-1. They added two more runs in the same inning, extending their lead to 4-1. The Bucks scored two additional runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth, taking a commanding 9-1 lead over the Lady Bears. Despite starting the sixth inning with a double by Kinley Meche and a single by Lanie Eschette, the Lady Bears couldn't find the timely hit needed to score again, falling 9-1 in game one.
Madelyn Nolen started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1. Kailyn Dwyer pitched 3.2 innings in relief. For the Bucks, H. White earned the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 1 run (0 earned) on 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2. The Bucks outhit the Lady Bears 13 to 8, with Rich Mountain committing two errors compared to one for Baton Rouge.

Game Two
In the second game, both teams' bats went silent, and the standout performances came from the pitchers. The Bucks scored their only run in the bottom of the seventh inning. E. Stout led off with a double to right field and advanced to third after tagging on a flyout by L. Cole. Stout then scored on a wild pitch by Lady Bears pitcher Abbey Borel, helping the Bucks walk off with a 1-0 victory.
Abbey Borel started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss, pitching 6.1 innings and allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 7. A. Koppein started for the Bucks and earned the victory, pitching 7 innings without allowing any runs and giving up 6 hits while striking out 5. Baton Rouge outhit UA Rich Mountain 6 to 2, with the Bucks committing one error.
