MGCCC Lady Bulldogs defeat Baton Rouge Lady Bears

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears concluded the Mardi Gras Invitational with a matchup against the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs at Supreme Rice Field. The Lady Bears struggled offensively, while the Lady Bulldogs seemed to be firing on all cylinders, running up a score to defeat the Lady Bears 10-0 in five innings.
In the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs hit four singles that translated into four runs, giving them an early 4-0 lead over the Lady Bears. Gulf Coast added two more runs in the second inning and one more in the third inning to extend their lead to 7-0. Finally, they scored three more runs in the top of the fifth inning, bringing the final score to 10-0. The Lady Bears fought until the end, with back-to-back singles from Raievah Craddock and Karley Chaney, but both were stranded as the Lady Bears were run-ruled in five innings.
Kailey Dwyer started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss, pitching five innings, allowing 10 runs (5 earned) on 12 hits, while not recording any walks or strikeouts. M. Smith started for the Lady Bulldogs and earned the victory, pitching four innings and allowing no runs on zero hits, while striking out three batters. K. Grehan pitched in relief for the Lady Bulldogs.
With this loss, the Lady Bears fell to 0-4 on the season, while the Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-1. Mississippi Gulf Coast leads the all-time series with 18 wins compared to Baton Rouge's 6 losses.

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears will kick off their 2026 home schedule on Tuesday, February 3, as they host the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers. First pitch of the doubleheader will be at 1:00 PM at the Hartley Vey Sports Complex (Oak Villa).
