Lady Bears Sweep LCU on the Road
Game 1 Saturday March 11
BRCC took the lead late in the game in an 11-7 victory over LCU on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with BRCC batting in the top of the eighth when Emma McCormick singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. BRCC collected 11 hits and LCU had eight.
LCU knotted the game up at seven in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Magee singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
After BRCC scored two runs in the top of the sixth, LCU answered with two of their own. BRCC scored when Madison Diaville singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Carpenter induced Alara Taylor to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. LCU then answered when Broussard singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Marley Olivier earned the win for BRCC. The righthander surrendered seven runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out five. Kristyn Lormand threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Broussard took the loss for LCU. The hurler allowed three hits and three runs over two innings, walking one.
Koch started the game for LCU. The bulldog went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking one
BRCC racked up 11 hits. Taylor, Bella Bishop, and Diaville all had multiple hits for BRCC. Diaville, Bishop, and Taylor each managed two hits to lead BRCC.
Game 2 Saturday March 11
BRCC had all cylinders firing on offense on Saturday, winning big over LCU 7-1
In the first inning, BRCC got their offense started when Bella Bishop's sac fly scored one run for BRCC.
BRCC put up three runs in the seventh inning. BRCC batters contributing to the big inning included Bishop and Stevie Credeur, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Macy Castleman was credited with the victory for BRCC. The righty lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out four.
Gehr took the loss for LCU. The pitcher surrendered four runs on five hits over two innings, striking out one.
Ross started the game for LCU. The hurler went one inning, allowing one run on one hit and walking zero
Kylee Dulyea went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead BRCC in hits
