Lady Bears drop two to Galveston

Lady Bears drop a pair of games to the Galveston Whitecaps this afternoon.  Galveston wins game one 5 to 0 and game two 9 to 3.

Game one was a good old fashion pitching duel between Lady Bear's Shelby Breaux and Whitecap's Ashley Kriesel for six innings.  In the six inning, the Whitecaps figured a little something out about Breaux and they scored five runs off of two homeruns. Galveston would score their first runs off a two run homerun by A Hoover.  They would tact on three more via A. Kriessel homer to left field.  The Lady Bears would go down in order in the seventh. 

Galveston outhit the Lady Bears 7 to 2.  Ashley Kriesel struckout 14 of the 20 Lady Bears she faced.  She earned the victory for Galveston, pitching a complete game shutout.  Shelby Breaux took the loss for the Lady Bears pitching six innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits while striking out 1.

A big second inning by Galveston propelled them to the 9 to 3 victory over Baton Rouge, in game two. BRCC jumped out and scored one run in the first.  Blayne Pence would reach on an error and scored when Taryn McNabb would reach on another Galveston error.  Galeveston would respond with two runs, in the bottom of the first, to take a 2 to 1 lead. Baton Rouge would retake the lead via a two run homerun by Payge Hebert to centerfield. Whitecaps would regain the lead that the would not reliquinsh in the second, when they pushed across five runs.  After two, whitecaps lead the Lady Bears 7 to 3. Galveston would score another run in the third and one more in the fourth to take the 9 to 3 victory.  

Ashley Kriesel pitched 6 innings in relief to grab the victory for Galveston.  She allowed no runs on no hits while striking out 10.  Shelby Breaux took the loss for the Lady Bears, pitching one and two-thirds innings allowing 4 runs on 4 hits. Sydnee McCall and Emily Hart pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

Lady Bears will conclude the 2018 softball season on the road in Eunice versus LSUE Lady Bengals.  Doubleheader will be Saturday May 5 starting at 1 pm.
