Bears struggle offensively in conference loss at Delgado

The Baton Rouge Bears traveled to New Orleans to face the Delgado Dolphins in an LCCAC matchup at the Michael Williamson Center. The Dolphins dominated throughout the game, defeating the Bears 70 to 50.
In the opening minutes, the game was closely contested. However, the Dolphins began to pull away with a 10-3 run, taking a ten-point lead at 22-10 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half. The Bears struggled offensively while the Dolphins excelled on both ends of the court. The Dolphins were aggressive on the boards, which led to transition baskets. They outscored the Bears 32 to 21 in the first half, taking an eleven-point lead into halftime.
The Bears continued to struggle offensively in the second half. Despite their efforts to adjust their defensive strategy to disrupt the Dolphins, they shot 48% from the field overall and improved to 57% in the second half. The Dolphins maintained their momentum, outscoring the Bears 38 to 29 in the final period to secure a 70 to 50 victory.
Kentrell Freeman led the Bears with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Oren Bowens had a game-high 23 points for the Dolphins, who had two players score in double figures: Bowens and Awogboro. With this loss, the Bears fell to 10-13 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Dolphins improved to 11-11 and 1-0 for the season. The Bears still lead the all-time series against Delgado with 33 wins to 16 losses.
