Bears fall on the road to the Pearl River Wildcats
Wednesday November 3, 2021: Men's Basketball
Poplarville, MS
An early first half lead by the Pearl River Wildcats was too much for the Baton Rouge Bears to overcome as they fall 74-59.
Baton Rouge Bears would jump out to a quick 3-0 lead when Julius Ellerbe III would get fouled on a three-point basket and make all three free throws. Pearl River would tie the game at three with 18:46. For the next eight minutes the Wildcats would go on a 16 to 8 run to take a commanding 22 to 11 lead over the Bears with 9:09 left in the half. Pearl River would use a stingy defense to keep the Bears out of rhythm on the offensive end of the floor for all of the first half. At the half, Pearl River led 41 to 25 over Baton Rouge.
In the second half, the Bears would come alive a bit both on the offensive and defensive side of the floor holding the Wildcats to only 33 second half points. Baton Rouge would turn up the defensive pressure forcing Pearl River to run their half court offensive instead of running their transition offense as they did in the first half. Jordan Randall and JaQualon Lovette led the second half charge by the Bears, but it was not enough as they would lose 74-59.
With the victory Pearl River Wildcats improve to 2-0, while Baton Rouge falls to 0-2 on the season.
Bears Highlights:
Jordan Randall led the Bears with 15 points,2 Rebounds, 2 Assist, and 1 steal
JaQualon Lovette scored 14 points with 6 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 steals and was 6-6 from the free throw line

The Bears will be back in action on Wednesday November 10 as they travel to Bossier City to take on the Bossier Parish Cavs at 7 pm.
