Bio

Chase Honeycutt enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Baton Rouge Community College Bears in 2026-27. Coach Honeycutt's primary responsibilities will be working with the Bears Pitching Staff.

Honeycutt arrives in Baton Rouge following one season at East Mississippi Community College, where he served as an assistant coach during the 2025-26 academic year. At East Mississippi, he worked primarily with the Lions’ catchers while overseeing advanced scouting and data analytics. He also managed in-game defensive positioning and pitch calling, helping lead the program back to the NJCAA Region 23 postseason tournament.

Before joining East Mississippi, Honeycutt spent the 2024-25 season as a volunteer assistant coach at NCAA Division I Lindenwood University. His responsibilities included coaching the catchers and assisting with player development. During his tenure, the Lions recorded the program’s first 30-win season at the Division I level and advanced to the semi-final round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

In the summer of 2024, Honeycutt served as head coach of the Premier Sports Academy Collegiate Team in O’Fallon, Missouri, gaining valuable experience leading a collegiate summer program.

A native of Southaven, Mississippi, Honeycutt enjoyed a standout playing career behind the plate. Following a decorated high school career at DeSoto Central High School, where he helped lead the Jaguars to MHSAA state championships in 2018 and 2019, he continued his collegiate career at Jones College. Over three seasons with the Bobcats, he made 106 career starts at catcher while posting a .983 fielding percentage with six home runs, 16 doubles, and 53 RBIs.

Honeycutt transferred to Lindenwood University for his final collegiate season, making 32 starts behind the plate while batting .269 and recording a .967 fielding percentage. He also competed for the Burlington Bees of the Prospect League during the summers of 2021, 2022, and 2023, compiling a .261 batting average and .973 fielding percentage across 60 starts.

As a prep prospect, Honeycutt was ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 1 catcher in Mississippi and among the nation’s top 100 catching prospects in the Class of 2020. He was also recognized as a Perfect Game Top 500 overall prospect.

Honeycutt earned an Associate degree from Jones College in 2022 and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lindenwood University in 2024.
