The Baton Rouge Bears opened LCCAC play this evening under the lights at Bengal Stadium on the campus of LSUE against the #10 LSUE Bengals. Unfortunately, the Bears struggled offensively and were unable to solve Bengals starter Spangler, ultimately losing their conference opener 5-0.
The Bengals got on the board first with a run in the opening inning due to a wild pitch with the bases loaded. They added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on some timely hits and inconsistent pitching from the Bears. After two innings, the Bengals led the Bears 3-0.
LSUE scored another run in the bottom of the fifth inning following a fielding error by the Bears, increasing their lead to 4-0.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Bears loaded the bases with consecutive singles from Keegan Kelsey, Ben Switzer, and Breckon Bordelon, but they were unable to convert this opportunity into a run. The Bengals responded in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run by A. Clapinski, extending their lead to 5-0.
Neither team was able to score in the final three innings, securing the Bengals' 5-0 victory over the Bears.
Joshua Jensen started on the mound for the Bears and took the loss, pitching 1.2 innings and allowing 3 runs on 4 hits while walking 4 and striking out 3. Spencer Srubar (5.1 innings) and Chandler Moreau (1.0 inning) provided relief for the Bears. H. Spangler earned the victory for the Bengals, pitching 7.2 innings, allowing 0 runs on 6 hits, and striking out 11.
Both teams recorded six hits, but the Bears committed three errors during the game.

- Hudson Heltz: 1 for 4 with a double
