Bears Baseball host Region XXIII Tournament- Games Preview

Baton Rouge Community College Baseball team will host the 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XXIII Division I Baseball Tournament this weekend, Friday May 6 through Sunday May 8. The Region XXIII tournament is a double-elimination format and games will be played at Pete Goldsby Field, 1502 Foss Street in Baton Rouge, home of the BRCC Bears Baseball team. The three team regional features Delgado Community College Dolphins, Baton Rouge Community College Bears, and Nunez Community College Pelicans.

- Baton Rouge leads the all time series over Nunez with 19 wins and 6 losses. The last time these two teams met was on May 1, 2022 when the Bears defeated the Pelicans 12-8 at Noel Suarez Stadium in Chalmette.

Scenario #1 - If one team is 0-2, they are eliminated
Game 4 2:00 1-1 team vs. 2-0 team If 2-0 team wins, they are champions
Scenario #2- If all teams are 1-1 following the 1st day, the #1 seed will receive the bye to Game 5

All games are 9 innings with NJCAA Run-Rule applicable except in Championship Game.
All Championship Games are 9 innings. In the event of rain postponements, no team will be required to play more than 2 games on a single day.
All NJCAA Handbook Tournament Rules in Section 5 will be followed.
Each game will have no less than four umpires.

The Region XXIII champion will advance to the South Central District Championship (Super Regional) to be hosted by the Region XXIII Champion starting May 20-22.
