November 19, 2018: Women's Basketball
Lady Bears pull away late to grab a 70 to 65 victory over the Northwest Lady Rangers, in day one of the Mississippi Delta Classic.
Unlike previous games, the Lady Bears came out on fire building a quick 7-0 lead over the Lady Rangers. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears held a 14 to 9 lead. In the second quarter, the Lady Rangers began to chip away at the Lady Bears lead, as they would tie the game at 18. Northwest's Madison Pharr would hit a three pointer, from the corner, to give the Lady Rangers a 21 to 19 lead, with two minutes remaining. Northwest outscored BRCC 17 to 11, in the second quarter.
At the half, Northwest held a slim one point lead over BRCC; 26 to 25.
BRCC retook the lead, in the third quarter, with a three point basketball by Desrael Schnyder; 28 to 26. It was a game of lead changes as there was seven total. BRCC held a one point lead at 41 to 40 with two minutes to play, in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter, BRCC Lady Bears had a 46 to 42 lead. BRCC had their largest lead of the contest at nine points, in the fourth quarter, but Northwest never quit and continued to chip away. Northwest tied the game twice in the final frame. Northwest had cut the deficit to 67-65 before going scoreless from the field in the final 1:27 to eventually lose to BRCC 70-65.
Kayla Watson had another unstoppable performance for the Lady Bears as she led everyone with 26 points. Mallory Russell led the Lady Rangers with 15 points.
With the win, BRCC has won its second straight game and improves to 2-5 on the season. Northwest falls to 2-5 on the year.

Kayla Watson led all Lady Bears in scoring with 26. She also added 8 steals and 8 rebounds.
Desrael Schnyder scored 14 points and 3 rebounds
Harlee Doucet scored 10 points with 2 steals
The Lady Bears will conclude the Mississippi Delta Classic on Tuesday November 20, against the host school Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans. Tip is set for 2 pm.
