Lady Bears pick up their first conference win this afternoon at Delgado. Lady Bears beat Delgado 78 to 39. The first quarter was tight between the Lady Bears and the Lady Dolphins. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears only had a two point lead at 19 to 17. In the second quarter, the Lady Bears turned up the heat and outscored the Lady Dolphins 26 to 8. BRCC took a 45 to 25 lead into the half. The second half was similar to the first half for the Lady Bears. They outscored Delgado 33 to 14, in the second half. BRCC held Delgado to only four fourth quarter points.
BRCC shot 46 % from the field and 42 % from the 3 point line, while Delgado only shot 32 % from the floor. BRCC outrebounded Delgado 38 to 29. The Lady Bears forced the Lady Dolphins into 24 turnovers compared to only 9 BRCC turnovers.
Baton Rouge improves to 6-12, 1-1, while Delgado falls to 3-13, 1-1 in conference.
Lady Bears Highlights:
Kayla Watson led the Lady Bears with 27 points, 10 Rebounds, 4 Steals.
Celica Sterling scored 20 points with 4 assist and 2 steals
Harlee Doucet added 12 points, 2 assist and 1 steal. She was 4 for 7 from the three point line.
Tremeeka Spikes added 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals
The Lady Bears will not be in action until next Saturday February 10, when LSUE comes to town at 2 pm. The Lady Bears were suppose to play Southern Shreveport on Wednesday but that game was forfeited by Southern- Shreveport.
