Lady Bears Handed First Loss

The first road test of the season was a tough one for Baton Rouge. After beginning the season 2-0 at home last weekend, the Lady Bears traveled to Summit, MS to square off against Region 23 foe, Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Baton Rouge was in control most of the game, securing leads at the end of the first, second and third quarters. However, the Lady Bears went cold in the final stanze allowing Southwest to win the game in the final minutes. Final score: Baton Rouge 59, Southwest 62.

Bear Notes:

  • Teriell Ross led the Lady Bears in scoring and was the only player in double-figures, with 17 points, shooting 8 of 11 from the field.
  • Amber Smith and Doneisha Young each contributed nine points.
  • Lady Bears committed 21 turnovers.
  • Southwest Mississippi grabbed 13 offensive rebounds.

Baton Rouge travels to Holmes Community College on Thursday, November 5th for a men's and women's doubleheader. Lady BEars begin the action at 6:00 pm.
