Eric (Ricky) Wilson enters his third season as the head coach of the BRCC Men’s Basketball program.
In his second season at BRCC, Wilson guided his team to the Miss/Lou Conference Championship, the first in the program’s four-year history. Coach earned a trip to the Region 23 tournament in Clinton, MS where he led the Bears to the 1st postseason win in school history before losing in the Regional semifinals to the eventual Region 23 champions. He began his coaching career at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2004, where he worked for his former college coach, Larry Eustachy. Wilson played two years at the University of Idaho under Coach Eustachy before working for him at Southern Miss for seven seasons; where Wilson was in charge of player development, scheduling, coaching the guards, and preparing scouting reports. During his time at Southern Miss, Coach Wilson mentored and recruited All-Conference players Gary Flowers, Jeremy Wise, RL Horton, and Angelo Johnson.
Wilson played college basketball at Walla Walla Community College. As a sophomore he averaged 13.5 points and 5.6 rebounds before transferring to the University of Idaho to finish his collegiate career. Wilson recorded a team high 176 assists during his senior season at Idaho and finished with 257 career assists. Wilson was named to the Big Sky All-Conference First Team his senior season. He was a two-year letterman at Walla Walla High School, where he earned First Team All-State honors his senior season. Wilson also excelled in other sports while in high school, being named All-State in football during his senior year.
Coach Wilson was named Louisiana Junior College Coach of the Year 2012-2013 by Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches. In that same year, Wilson coached the Miss/Lou Conference Player of the Year in Jeffrey Walker.
Wilson, a native of Orange, New Jersey, is married to the former Sylvia Drayton of Hillside, New Jersey. The family resides in Zachary, LA. and also includes daughters, Javia (16) and Talia (9).
