November 14, 2017 : Men's Basketball
Basketball is a game of momentum swings and unfortunately, Baton Rouge came up one swing short on Tuesday night during the second day of the SW Mississippi Community College Coca-Cola Classic. BRCC (1-4) fell to SW Mississippi CC (5-0) 75 to 65. Baton Rouge Bears jumped out to a hot start scoring the first seven points of the game to take an early 7-0 lead over the SW Mississippi Bears. Then the SW Mississippi Bears went on a swing of their own to cut the Bears lead to 7-5 with 16:44 left to go in the half. The momentum shifted back to the BRCC Bears as they went on a 10 to 2 run over the SW Mississippi Bears to take a 23-14 lead with 14:31 left on the clock in the first half. Baton Rouge Bears went on a very cold strike to end the half , they were outscored by the SW Mississippi Bears 28 to 12. The halftime score was SW Mississippi Bears 42 and BRCC Bears 35.
The second half was not much different than the first half. The SW Mississippi Bears opened the second half on a 16 to 6 run to take a 58 to 41 lead over the BRCC Bears with 15:26 left in the second half. Our BRCC Bears did not give up and went on a run over their own, scoring 18 points, to pull within four points of the lead, with 10 minutes left to go in the second half. Unfortunately that would be as close as Baton Rouge would get. The BRCC Bears fall 75 to 65 to the SW Mississippi Bears.
Dominique Elliot led Baton Rouge with 24 points. He also has 1 steal, 1 assist 2 rebounds.
Makye Richard had 13 points, 4vAssists, 8 Rebounds and 4 steals
Jibreel Ahmad had 4 points, 7 Assists, 9 Rebounds
The BRCC Bears will be back in action this Friday November 17, 2017 in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center on the Midcity Campus as they take on William Carey JV Team at 7 pm.
