Baton Rouge jumped out to an early double-digit lead tonight versus Mississippi Gulf Coast and never looked back. The 83-58 final tally gave the Bears their third straight win and improves the overall record to 5-3.
The hot shooting Bears knocked down eight 3-pointers in the first half. Led by Damian Young, who made four on his way to a 16 point half. Seth Jackson included 14 points of his own during the first twenty minutes. Baton Rouge took a 52-27 lead into the break.
The second half yielded much of the same. Baton Rouge extended the lead to thirty points by the midway point of the half and Gulf Coast could not muster a lengthy run to get back into the ball game.
Young finished with 20 points to lead Baton Rouge in scoring. Jackson ended the night with 17 points, followed by Christian Echol's eleven.
BRCC will stay home this week for two more games. Next up is a date with Pearl River Community College on Thursday night. Game time is set for 6:00 pm. The Bears will host Marion Military Institute (AL) on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
